Frequently Asked Question
PAPER AND PRINTING GUIDES
- WHERE CAN I BUY PAPER, CARD STOCK & ENVELOPES?
We recommend white or cream cardstock, also sometimes called cover paper that is at least: 10 PT - 80 lb COVER - 216 G/M2 and that works with your printer. There are some paper companies out there that will provide cheap samples to test print with before you commit. You can buy paper at online paper providers such as Paper Source, LCI Papers, Paper and More, Cards & Pockets
- HOW SHOULD I PRINT IT?
You can print the image at home from your computer and home printer, or you can have the image printed by a local or online professional printing lab. (Shutterfly, Target, CVS, COSTCO, Kinkos, Office Depot, your home printer on cardstock, or any local printing service you may have available.)
- WHAT KIND OF PRINTER SHOULD I USE?
You can use a home printer, a copy shop or take your printable to a professional or online printer. If you’re printing at home, it’s best to use a colour printer. Laser printers will have the highest quality, but are also more expensive than inkjet printers.
- WHAT SIZE PAPER SHOULD I USE?
Every printable is formatted to print on a 8.5” x 11” paper. (80lb is best depending on your printer)
- HOW DO I CUT THE TEMPLATES TO SIZE?
I recommend buying a cheap paper trimmer, guillotine or get a craft knife with a metal edged ruler.
FONTS, SOFTWARE AND OTHER GUIDES
- DO I NEED ANY SOFTWARE TO EDIT AND PRINT MY PRINTABLE?
Yes, you’ll need Acrobat Reader which is a free program. A free download of Adobe Acrobat Reader is available at http://get.adobe.com/reader/
- DO I NEED TO INSTALL ANY FONTS?
All of the fonts we use are license free. Most of them come from free personal use fonts sites
- HOW TO INSTALL FONTS ON YOUR PC
- THERE'S A PLUS SIGN (+) IN THE BOTTOM OF THE CORNER OF THE EDITABLE TEXT FIELD?
This usually happens when you have text that is going outside of the printable area, or an extra “return” in your text field. Try reducing the amount of text or seeing if there is an extra “return” in your text field.
- NOT DISPLAY FONTS
These files come with fonts embedded and will show up once the files are opened in Adobe Reader. If the fonts are not displaying as shown above, make sure "Use local fonts" is unchecked in your Adobe Reader Preferences.
File> Properties (you will see section "Fonts Panels")
- CAN I ADD AN IMAGE TO MY PRINTABLE?
Unfortunately it’s not possible to add an image, photo or your own logo into the printable.
